Domain transfer code; It is an authorization code that enables domain verification in the domain transfer process. This code (password) you receive for the domain transfer process is like the title deed of your domain name and provides extra security by working with the same logic as the confirmation code you receive in your credit card transactions. Although the domain transfer code is officially called the Auth-Info Code by ICANN and its registrars, it is also known by different alternative names:
- Authorization Code
- Transfer secret/password
- Domain secret
- EPP code (Extensible Provisioning Protocol)
- Transfer switch
- EPP switch
- EPP status code
- EPPT verification code
- EPP authorization code
- Domain status code
Domain transfer password; It is a complex code generated by a random selection of numbers, letters and special characters by the domain registrar (Registrar). It consists of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 23 characters. The domain registrar can obtain this transfer code only for the domain owner displayed in the Whois query.
Domain transfer code; It is used in the transfer of domains covered by top-level domains (TLD: top-level domains) or generic top-level domains (gTLD: generic top-level domains) from one domain registrar (Registrar) to another domain registrar.
The domain transfer code declares the current status of the domain name registration and provides additional security as it is created specifically for each domain. When you want to transfer your domain name to another company, the domain transfer code allows you to prove that you are the domain owner. Each domain has at least 1 status code and the transfer code can be more than 1.
How to Get Domain Transfer Code (EPP)?
For the domain transfer, the e-mail address of the Administrator Contact Person to whom the EPP code will be sent must be verified, the transfer lock must be open and the domain transfer code must be entered correctly. To get a domain transfer password (EPP code), you need to follow the steps below:
- Go to the website of the company where your domain is registered. Log in by logging into the customer panel.
- After logging into your account, go to the My Domains/Domain Settings page.
- Select the domain name for which you want to get a domain transfer code and click the Manage/Manage Domain Name button.
- Disable the Domain Lock option, making it passive (off).
- Complete the process by clicking Get Authorization Code/Get EPP Code/Get Transfer Password.
Domain transfer process varies depending on the extension of your domain name. Although the transfer process takes a maximum of 10 days, it usually takes less than 5 days. For domains with .tr extension, the transfer process is done not with the EPP code, but with the printed document (administrative responsible change form). After submitting the form, the transfer process takes place between 1 and 3 days.
